2007-06-28 German-French Fair is held in Berlin from 13 June to 15 July 2007
and celebrates friendly relations between Germany and France. For this period,
Berlin’s Zentraler Festplatz is turned into a French village with all its charm
and entertainment. The event was first organised in the 1960s with the aim of
bringing together West Berliners and the French troops stationed in the city.
However, this celebration, called Deutsch-Französisches Volksfest, became a
common tradition and is now run by an ordinary funfair company. The fair offers
a well-organised theatre programme and a good choice of food, such as seafood,
baguettes, croques-monsieurs and other dainties which come to our mind when we
think of French cuisine. Another focus of the fair is a huge roller coaster and
a ferris wheel which will make your knees tremble. The entrance is chargeable.
