2007-07-12 There is not a single person who
never heard about the difficulties that people lived through during the second World
War and after it. The exhibition “Dictatorship and Everyday Life In The GDR” is
a closer look on this problem, as it surveys the everyday life in
the former East Germany, the dictatorship, imposed ideology and how
it really influenced people’s living. There are two sections that visitors can browse
through: “work” in the lower floor, and "private life" upstairs. Both of them
cover such topics as SED (Socialist Unity Party of Germany), education, state
security, women and their professional lives, youth and the elderly. Having
browsed through the materials of the exhibition, you will find out how the
attempt to dictate the lives of German citizens finally failed. Available till
July 29th. Opening hours are: 10am-6pm.
