Another event for those who are fond of and interested in sports - Modern Pentathlon World Championship - takes place at Berlin Olympic Park August 16th - 21^st . This is the sixth time the championship is organised in Germany – however, for the first time it takes place in Berlin. The name “pentathlon” derives from the Greek “five competitions” as there are five different kinds of sports presented at the event. Pentathlon is actually a very interesting sport – however, not enough attention has been paid to it in past. This year organizers plan to improve the situation. The venue - the Olympic Park, is an excellent place for the championship, as there are several halls found not far from each other. The activities represented are: shooting (at the Rudolf-Harbig-Halle), fencing (Horst-Korber-Sportzentrun), swimming (Forumbad), riding and running (Olympisches Reiterstadion). More than 300 competitors from over 60 nations are expected.
