2007-08-31 Musikfest Berlin was first organised in 2005 to continue the
tradition inaugurated by the Berliner Festwochen. This year the event takes
place 31 August – 16 September at different venues around Berlin including the
Philharmonie, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Radialsystem V and some others.
The world’s best orchestras, ensembles, soloists and conductors will perform for
those fond of classic music. There are also various lectures, seminars and film
series organised within the festival programme. This year’s guests are: the
Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by James Levine, the San Francisco Symphony
with Michael Tilson Thomas, the Philharmonia Orchestra London (conductor Charles
Dutoit), the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden with Fabio Luisi, Berliner
Philharmoniker, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, soloists Sergej Leiferkus,
