For many years architecture has been the main field for the ornament application. It has also been the main source for research of ornament, be it ancient architecture or the Renaissance period. Architecture helps define the idea ornament bears, its content, terminology, central terms and concepts. To find out more, visit an exhibition “Ornament and Architecture. The Beauty in Utility” available 28 September - 25 November 2007 at Kulturforum Potsdamer Platz. The exhibition presents various architectural pieces from the collection of the Art Library (Kunstbibliothek) – one of the leading German institutions specializing in history of arts. The aim of the exhibition is to provide information on how ornament found its expression in architecture and how it influenced building practice. Visit the exhibition every day except for Mondays.
