Germany is one of the most sportive countries of the world. No matter which sport event it hosts – the stands are always overcrowded and the competitions are always well-organized. The summer season is coming up to an end and soon the time of winter sports will begin. However now there is a chance to see the best runners. Berlin Cross-Country Race marks the beginning of Germany Cross-Country Cup series. The event will take place 24-25 September 2006. Competitors start in the center of Berlin, then run along its best attractions and finish at the Brandenburg Gate. Distances vary from 1000m to 8000m, and the start times differ depending on the age and sex groups. In addition to Sunday's main race, there is an inline skating contest on Saturday and one for wheelchair users and hand bikers on Sunday morning. It’s not just a sport competition – it’s a holiday of sport, so parties take place in the evenings on both days.
